What this usually means

What you observe
- The door is hot after a short run — Compare with how it used to feel after the same task.
- The door closes but springs back slightly — A hinge that has lost its tension or a catch that no longer holds. Either way the door is not sitting where it must. That holds for every model the table on this page lists.
- There is a gap visible at the top of the door — Doors drop at the outer edge, so the gap appears at the top on the handle side first.

- Examine the window screen closely — The screen is part of the barrier; inspect it as carefully as the seal.
- Listen for a clean latch click — One decisive click, not two soft ones. A vague latch is a worn latch. The SMD line behaves the same way here from one model to the next.
- Check the door for movement at the hinge — Any vertical movement at the hinge is significant on this appliance.
