Beko Freezer: Door, Latch or Seal Fault
On a standalone freezer the seal is not a minor component — it is the only barrier between the load and the room, and a leak shows up as frost, as a cabinet that never cycles off and eventually as soft food. A chest lid and an upright door fail differently, and the check is different for each. What changes the order on Beko is that the maintenance items the European design exposes to the owner are the ones that block first.
What you are actually seeing
- Frost forming at one point around the lid or door
- The lid not settling flat when lowered
- Condensation or ice on the outer cabinet face
- The cabinet running continuously
- A door that needs a push to latch
- A lid that is hard to reopen straight after closing — Means: That is the pressure equalising — the seal is working.
- Even frost throughout a manual-defrost cabinet — Means: That is normal accumulation, not a leak.

Most likely causes on a Beko Freezer, in order
- A package or a basket holding the lid or door proud — Id: obstruction — Why: On a chest freezer the load is stacked to the rim and this is the leading cause by a distance. Free, instant, and constantly overlooked.
- Gasket dirty, iced or stiff — Id: gasket-dirty — Why: Ice on the sealing face stops the gasket seating and then grows because it stops the gasket seating.

The order above is specific to this brand rather than generic: a ventless, direct-drive, filter-first design moves the airway and the filter stack to the top of the list and removes the belt and the vent duct from it entirely.

Before you open anything
Safety
Never defeat a door interlock or a safety switch to keep an appliance running, and stop at the first step that would put a meter on live terminals. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
Where the owner fix ends
Call a technician when the paper test still fails after cleaning, repacking and levelling, when the gasket is split or out of its channel, or when a chest lid no longer settles flat under its own weight.
