Beko / Blomberg Refrigerator: Not Cooling or Not Freezing
A refrigerator that has stopped holding temperature has almost always lost airflow or lost its defrost cycle, not its refrigerant. Airflow and defrost faults are owner-diagnosable; a sealed-system fault is not, and the two look nothing alike once you know what to listen for. What changes the order on Beko / Blomberg is that the installation is a component, and on a panel-ready machine it fails more often than anything inside the cabinet.
What you are actually seeing
- Fresh-food compartment warm while the freezer still holds ice
- Both compartments slowly warming over a day or two
- Compressor running continuously and never cycling off
- Frost sheeting across the back wall of the freezer instead of a light dusting
- The cabinet is cold but food at the front of a shelf freezes — Means: That is an over-cooling or damper fault, not a cooling failure — the cooling system is working and the control of it is not.

Most likely causes on a Beko / Blomberg Refrigerator, in order
- Ambient temperature outside the design range — Id: ambient — Why: A garage or unheated space in cold weather can stop a single-thermostat cabinet from calling for cooling at all.
- Door not sealing — Id: door-seal — Why: A warm, humid leak past the gasket loads the system continuously and frosts the evaporator early.
- Blocked airflow between the compartments — Id: airflow — Why: Packed shelves, a bag against the rear vent or a full freezer floor stop the evaporator fan moving cold air forward. It is the most common cause and costs nothing to correct.

The order above is specific to this brand rather than generic: a panel-ready unit carries the weight of a cabinet door on its hinges and breathes through whatever gap the installer left, so alignment and clearance outrank every internal component.
What to check, and in what order
- Open the freezer and put a hand at the vent while the unit runs — Why here: If no air moves, the fault is airflow, defrost or the fan — three of the top four causes — and you have eliminated the sealed system in one step.
- Look at the freezer back wall — Why here: A solid sheet of frost across the panel is defrost failure. A light even dusting is normal.
- Listen for the compressor and the fan separately — Why here: A compressor that runs while no fan turns is a fan motor. A compressor that clicks and stops is the start relay or overload.

Before you open anything
Safety
Never defeat a door interlock or a safety switch to keep an appliance running, and stop at the first step that would put a meter on live terminals. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The sealed system is under pressure. Never cut, braze or open a refrigerant line, and never try to add refrigerant to a domestic cabinet.
Where the owner fix ends
Call a technician when the frost returns after a full manual defrost, when the compressor clicks and stops repeatedly, or when the coil is clean, the fans turn and the cabinet still will not reach 40 °F (4 °C). Those three conditions each point inside the sealed system or at the defrost circuit, and neither is an owner repair.
Hinge, panel and levelling work is owner-adjustable. Sealed-system and board work on a built-in cabinet means pulling the unit out of the millwork, which is a service call on its own.
