A Beko BVF freezer that has developed a scrape, a rattle or a buzz is reporting something mechanical and usually inexpensive. Gurgling, ticking and a low steady hum are normal on these cabinets and are not worth chasing.
What owners actually see
- A rhythmic scraping or chirping from inside — Across the whole of this line, a fan blade striking ice on a frost-free build. It follows the cooling cycle and frequently stops when the door is opened.
- A buzz or rattle from the base at the back — The condenser fan out of balance or catching debris, usually louder once the compressor has been running a while.
- A rattle that changes when the cabinet is pushed — An unlevel cabinet or a drip tray no longer seated, and nothing is faulty at all. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.

Ranked causes on this line
- A fan blade striking ice — First on the BVF line for any frost-free build, because the fan runs with little clearance to the coil and a modest frost build is enough to bring ice into the blade path. Every model in this family behaves this way.
- A cabinet that is not level or not stable — Second because it is free to fix and very common after a floor is laid or the appliance is moved. A cabinet rocking on three feet transmits every vibration into the room. The models in the table behave the same way here.
- Debris or imbalance at the condenser fan — The base fan pulls in dust, paper and pet hair, and a blade with debris on one side runs out of balance and buzzes under the cabinet.
- Hardened compressor mountings — Rubber mounts stiffen with age and stop absorbing the start surge, so a healthy compressor transmits a knock it did not transmit when new.
- A worn fan motor bearing — Last because it needs a panel off to confirm and because it is distinguished from ice contact only by being constant rather than intermittent.

- Open the door and listen for the noise to change — First on the BVF line because a fan that cuts with the door names itself, and because the test costs nothing. That holds across every model this page covers.
- Put an ear to the base at the back — Second: the condenser fan and the compressor both live there and they sound entirely different, one a buzz and the other a hum.
- Rock the cabinet gently with both hands — Third, because a cabinet that moves is a cabinet that rattles, and levelling it takes a spanner and two minutes. It is the same on all the models in the table on this page.
