The short answer
A Beko VD dryer that tumbles without heating has usually tripped its own protection rather than burned out a part. The VD models are compact vented dryers, and a compact vented dryer lives or dies by its duct. The brand-generic article puts the heating element first; here the restricted duct and the one-shot cutoff it trips belong above the element.
What you observe
- The drum turns all cycle but the load stays cold and wet — An open heater circuit on a machine whose motor circuit is fine.
- Heat at the start of the cycle and none afterwards — Points at a cycling thermostat or an intermittent element, not a tripped cutoff.
- The exhaust hood outside barely moves its flap — Confirms the restriction before anything is opened.
- The filter is clean but its housing is packed with lint — Common on compact cabinets, where lint bypasses the filter and collects below it.

Causes, most likely first on this family
- Restricted or over-long exhaust duct — First, and the root cause behind most of the others. Compact cabinets go into tight spaces, so the duct is folded, crushed or run further than it should be.
- Tripped one-shot thermal cutoff — Second, but read it as a consequence. The cutoff is a fuse that opened because the duct restricted; replaced alone, it fails again on the same schedule.
- Open heating element — Third. Elements do fail here, but most often after a season of running hot behind a restricted duct.
- Cycling thermostat out of range — Fourth, and the usual explanation for heat that comes and goes rather than heat that is simply absent.
- Lost power leg on the appliance circuit — Last, and not a dryer fault at all: the motor runs from one side of the supply and the heater from both, so half a supply gives exactly this symptom.
Check in this order, and why
- Feel the exhaust at the hood with the dryer running — First, because it costs nothing and tests the likeliest cause. Weak flow outside with strong flow at the machine means a blocked run.
- Pull the flexible duct off and inspect its whole length — Second. On this cabinet the duct is usually folded flat behind the machine, and the fold is where lint packs.
- Clear the lint filter and the housing under it — Third: the one restriction inside the cabinet an owner can reach without a panel.
- Only then meter the cutoff, the thermostats and the element — Fourth, so the replacement part is not being asked to solve an airflow problem.
Before you open anything

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never bypass a thermal cutoff, thermostat or high-limit device to make the dryer heat - those parts are all that stand between a restricted duct and a lint fire. Clear the duct even if you leave the repair to a technician.

When to call a technician
Call once the duct is clear and the machine still will not heat, because everything remaining is inside the heater circuit and needs a meter. Call immediately if you smell burning, see scorching around the heater housing, or the dryer trips its breaker - a heater circuit that trips a breaker is an electrical fault, not a temperature fault.
