BDDDT models take this one slightly differently. Overfoaming is the cause people never suspect. Washing-up liquid in the dispenser, or too much detergent in soft water, produces foam that walks straight out past a perfectly good door seal. Signs and near misses on a BDDDT unit
- A slow drip behind the machine that never stops — Supply side, under mains pressure, and it is there whether the appliance runs or not. Read this one against the BDDDT models listed below.
- A damp cabinet side or swollen floor of the housing — An older leak that has been running unnoticed, and the damage dates it.
- Clean water rather than soapy water — That is fill-side water that has never reached the wash, so the fault is a supply hose or the inlet valve.
- NEAR MISS: water standing inside the tub rather than on the floor — That is a drainage fault, and the drainage page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on the BDDDT line
- A tired or dirty door gasket — Ranked first because it is both the most common and the easiest to confirm: grease and food residue on the seal stop it compressing, and the leak shows at the front centre of the door. Nothing in how the BDDDT line is put together changes where this sits.
- A loose hose clip or a perished hose behind the machine — Second. Clips loosen over years of heat cycling, and the hose run gets crushed when the machine is pushed back into its housing.
- A split tub or a failed pump seal — Last, because it is the least likely and the only one that is not owner-checkable. It is diagnosed once everything above is clean.
The checking order
- Establish whether the water is clean or soapy — Clean water is the fill side; soapy water has been through the wash. One touch, and half the list goes. The BDDDT layout is the reason it comes first here.
- Pull the machine out, dry everything and run a short cycle — Watching where the first drop appears is worth more than inspecting a puddle that has already travelled.
- Close the door and check it pulls square against the frame — A latch or hinge that has dropped puts a perfectly good gasket out of contact along one edge.

Safety
Disconnect power, close the supply valve, and dry the area. Stored charge outlives the switch, so leave the appliance isolated for the whole job. Never run a test cycle with the kick panel off and the machine powered while you watch from the floor.

The line between a fix and a call
Once the free checks are clean, the remaining candidates all need the machine pulled and stripped. Call then, and call urgently if the cabinet floor or the flooring around the machine is lifting — that damage is older than the puddle.
