Avanti Dishwasher: Door, Latch or Seal Fault
A dishwasher door problem shows up as a leak, a machine that will not start, or a door that drops open. This page takes the same fault from a different starting point: not which subsystem is likeliest on an Avanti dishwasher, but when the trouble started. This is a compact cabinet with very little air around its condenser, so clearance and ventilation outrank component failure. Causes, grouped by when it started
- One entry per onset pattern first — the strongest candidate for each way this fault can begin on an Avanti dishwasher — and the remainder after them. Read the label, find the pattern that matches yours, and start there rather than at the top.
- The machine is not level in its cabinet — Why: A dishwasher that leans puts the door out of plane with its opening, so the seal loads unevenly and the latch does not line up. What to check, and in what order

- Pin down when it started and whether it happens every time. — Why: A fault that appeared between one use and the next has a different cause set from one that crept up over months, and this answer alone removes most of the list.
- Wipe the seal and the face it presses against, then rerun the cycle. — Why: It is the most common cause and it costs nothing but a cloth.

Switch off the dishwasher at its breaker before working on the door, the latch or the springs; many machines are hard-wired. A door spring or cable under tension can release suddenly and cause injury — if a spring has broken, leave the replacement to a technician. Never defeat the door latch switch to run a machine with a faulty latch.

Call a technician when one of these is true, and not before.
When the seal is split or hardened and needs replacing. When the door falls open, which means a spring or cable has failed. When the latch does not enter the strike squarely after cleaning and levelling.
