The XQB answer in short
A leaking Avanti XQB washer is an urgent fault with a cheap cause more often than not. Turn the taps off, dry the floor, then run a short cycle and watch: where the first drop appears tells you which of the four usual suspects it is.
Signs you can observe
- A wet patch that appears and dries between washes — For XQB models, a weep from a joint that only pressurises during a cycle, rather than a continuous leak.
- Suds coming out of the door or the detergent drawer — Where XQB models are concerned, suds rather than water is a dosing problem and it imitates a serious leak convincingly.
- Suds coming out of the dispenser or the door — For XQB models, too much detergent, or the wrong kind for the machine, will foam out of any opening it can find.
- Water only during the spin — For the XQB line, a leak that needs pressure to appear — a hose clip, or an overloaded drum forcing water past a door seal.
- Water appearing only during the drain or spin — Within the XQB family, the drain hose connection or the hose itself under pressure, which only leaks when the pump runs.

What actually fails on XQB models, in order
- An inlet hose or tap connection weeping — It leads because a supply leak is both the most common and the most damaging — it runs whether the machine is on or not.
- Too much detergent, or the wrong type — It belongs on the list because it is free to test: one short cycle with a correct dose settles it. It is ranked the same way on every XQB model.
- A blocked dispenser overflowing — It ranks here because it is owner-serviceable and because the water appears at the front, mimicking a door fault.
- A split sump, bellows or internal hose — It comes last because everything above leaks in the same place first, and because this one is a technician job. It sits there for XQB models too.
Work through these in order
- Turn the taps off and see whether the water stops — For XQB models, do this first if the water is clean and the machine is idle.
- Dry the floor and find the highest wet point — Kitchen paper under the hoses, under the filter hatch and along the front edge makes it obvious.
- Run one cycle with a correct detergent dose — Use the right product for the machine type and measure it rather than guessing.
- Watch a short cycle through with paper down — For XQB models, fill, wash or spin: the stage the water appears at names the joint.

Water on the floor around a mains appliance is the hazard here: switch the washer off at the breaker or the plug before standing in it, and dry the floor before you move the machine — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. When to call a technician
Call when the hoses, the filter cap, the door seal and the dosing are all sound and water still appears, or when the leak is plainly coming from inside the cabinet. Call immediately if water has reached a socket or the control panel — that is an electrical hazard rather than a plumbing nuisance.
