The short answer
A WQP machine that does nothing is far more often unlatched, locked out or unpowered than broken. A countertop machine shares a busy kitchen socket with everything else on the worktop. Four of the five checks below take a minute each and need no tools at all. There is one number under the WQP label in the table below, so nothing here depends on which variant you own.
What you observe on these models
- Dead with other things on the same socket also off — A tripped socket or switch, not the machine.
- Lights on but the cycle never begins — Latch or lock.
- It has power but will not begin a cycle — That splits the list in half: the supply is fine, so look at the latch and the lock.
- It started and then stopped within a minute — That is a fill or drain fault reported as a no-start.
- NEAR MISS — it runs but never fills — Read the supply and coupler checks rather than the power ones.
Causes, most likely first on the WQP family
- Power at the outlet — First on a countertop machine: it shares a kitchen socket with everything else on the worktop, and a tripped socket or a switched-off extension is the commonest cause of all.
- The door latch — Second: small doors and a single catch.
- A residual-current device tripped elsewhere — Third: kitchen circuits trip as a group, so a dead dishwasher is sometimes a tripped circuit with a fault in another appliance entirely.
- A delay timer set by accident — Fourth: one press while cleaning the panel puts a machine hours away from starting, and it looks exactly like a fault.
- The faucet adapter not seated or the tap off — Last: no water, no cycle.
Check in this order, and why that order

- Close the door firmly and listen for the catch — One catch, one switch.
- Check the consumer unit for a tripped breaker or RCD — Kitchen circuits trip as a group, and the fault may be another appliance entirely.
- Check the tap and the adapter — No water, no cycle.
- Look for a lock or delay indicator — Free to clear.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. On this platform there is no check worth doing that cannot wait the thirty seconds it takes to isolate the machine properly. Close the water supply as well as isolating the electrics, because a hose released under pressure is the other way this job goes wrong. Standing water and an energised pump are the combination that hurts people on this appliance, so mop the tub out before working near the base. If at any point you are not sure what you are looking at, stop there: nothing on this list is worth an injury.

Latches, locks, sockets, taps and supply valves are all owner checks on a countertop dishwasher, and together they explain most dead machines. On these models the line falls at anything behind a panel on a machine that holds water. Call without working through anything at all for a door that no longer closes square on a machine full of water.
