Auseo BC Series Refrigerator is the scope of this page, and on it an ice maker that has stopped producing points first at a frozen fill tube. All 5 of the causes below can at least be narrowed down without a tool, which is unusual and worth taking advantage of.
What the machine is doing
- The cubes taste or smell wrong — Ice takes on whatever is in the air and the water line. It is a filtration and storage matter rather than a mechanical fault.
- The bin is empty and stays empty over days — Nothing at all is the clearest version of this fault and it usually means water is not arriving.
- The cubes have fused into one block in the bin — That is slow production and melting between harvests, not a filling problem.
- It fills, freezes and then never ejects — The harvest side has stalled; the cubes sit in the mould and nothing new can be made.
- It makes one batch and then stops — The first harvest completed and the second did not, which is a fill or a temperature question.
- NEAR MISS — water is pooling on the floor — A supply leak needs the water off before anything else. Go to the leak page first.
Causes, most likely first on the BC series
- A frozen fill tube — Clearing the tube fixes it for a week. The reason it froze in the first place is low pressure or a partly failed valve, which is why this one comes back.
- The water inlet valve or the supply behind it — The valve is electrically opened and mechanically simple, and it is the single most common failed part in an ice circuit that has gone completely dry.
- A freezer compartment that is not cold enough to harvest — A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and an ice maker needs that too. Above it the cycle stretches out and eventually stops completing.
- A door that is not closing, or a switch that thinks it is open — It is an easy one to overlook because everything else about the cabinet looks normal, and it often follows a door being adjusted or reversed.
- A bin or ice maker that is not seated properly — Anything that was removed for cleaning and put back slightly out of place shows up here, usually within a day.
What to check first, second, third
- Measure the freezer compartment with a thermometer — A compartment that is not cold enough will never complete a harvest, and no part replacement changes that.
- Establish whether water is arriving at all — No water and some water are two different faults with two different lists, and nothing below matters until you know which you have.
- Count what arrives over a full day rather than an hour — Ice makers work in batches with long waits between them, so anything measured over an hour tells you nothing useful.
- Empty the bin completely and start from nothing — A part-full bin hides both slow production and a shut-off arm that is being held up.
- Only then suspect the module itself — It is last because it is the only expensive item on the list and the most frequently replaced without cause.
Before anything comes apart

Before a panel comes off, the machine comes off the supply: unplug it or switch its breaker off. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip ice off a compartment wall with anything metal. The evaporator is close behind that surface and a pierced one ends the cabinet. Leave every interlock and door switch exactly as you find it: each one cuts power to something for a reason.

When to call a technician
