The short answer
An Asko washer gives warning before it develops a serious electrical fault: warmth at the plug, discolouration at the socket, a faint hot smell, damage to the flex where the machine has been pushed back. Any of those is a reason to stop and have the machine and the socket looked at, not a reason to wait for a trip.
Symptoms, and the ones that mean something else
- A plug that feels warm after a cycle — A resistance building at the connection. It gets worse each time.
- Brown or grey discolouration around the socket pins — Heat damage that has already happened.
- A faint hot smell after a hot wash — Insulation or a connector running warmer than it should.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A standard household branch circuit is 15 A or 20 A. Do not repair a damaged flex with tape and do not keep using a socket that has discoloured: both are how a warm connection becomes a fire. If anybody has felt a tingle from the cabinet or nearby pipework, stop using the machine and have an electrician check the circuit's earthing before it is used again.

Call an electrician for a discoloured or buzzing socket, for a damaged flex, or for any circuit that trips with the machine unplugged: those are installation faults. Call an appliance technician for a hot smell during a cycle or for water inside the machine. Do not wait for a trip to make the decision, because a trip is the point at which the fault has become large enough for a protective device to notice.
