What you are looking at
An Asko dryer that will not begin a cycle is usually held by the condensate arrangement, the door catch or the supply. Empty and reseat the water container, push the door until it latches positively, and confirm the panel lights. Only when all three are satisfied does the diagnosis move inside the machine.
The observable signs
- A full-container warning with the container empty — A stuck float or a fouled sensor, and it locks the machine out.
- Panel lit, nothing when start is pressed — Door catch, a lock, or the condensate lockout.
- Panel completely dark — Supply: outlet, plug or breaker.
- Starts and stops within seconds — The door circuit making and breaking.
- NEAR MISS: a delay start or child lock set — Both look exactly like a dead machine.
Where the fault usually sits
- Condensate container full, misseated or its sensor stuck — First on a condensing machine, and it is invisible from outside.
- Door catch worn or misaligned — Second, and it develops slowly with use.
- A setting: delay start or child lock — Third, and free to clear.
- No supply at the outlet — Fourth, and settled with a lamp.
- Start switch or control — Last, and diagnosed after everything above.
A sequence that saves time
- Remove, empty and firmly reseat the water container — Free, quick, and the characteristic fault on this machine class.
- Close the door until the catch clicks positively — Instant, and it resolves a large share.
- Cancel any delay start or child lock — Both are invisible unless you look.
- Check the panel lights at all — Dark means supply; lit means downstream.
The checks you can run yourself
- Pull the container out, empty it and push it fully home — A container not seated to its stop reads as absent or full on many machines.
About 10 min
- If the machine is plumbed, check the condensate hose for kinks and height — A raised or crushed hose stops drainage and locks the machine out.

- Push the door shut until the catch engages positively — A door that rests closed without latching blocks everything.
About 5 min
- Plug a lamp into the same outlet — A dark lamp means the socket, not the dryer. Stop here rather than opening the cabinet.

Power off, panels later
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A standard household branch circuit is 15 A or 20 A. The door switch must be left exactly as it is: it is what prevents a heated drum turning with the door open, and no starting fault justifies interfering with it. A heat-pump machine also contains a sealed refrigeration circuit, which is never something to open or probe.
Where the owner fix ends
Call when the container is empty and seated, the door latches positively, no lock is set, the outlet is live and the machine still will not start. Say when you book whether it is reporting a full container, because a stuck float or sensor is a specific and inexpensive repair. Call an electrician instead if the breaker trips on reset with the dryer unplugged.

Where this page stops
This page is the class-level answer for an Asko dryer that will not start. It publishes no switch part numbers, sensor specifications or control identifiers, because those differ between builds under this badge and between condensing, heat-pump and vented designs. Where a family- or model-specific page exists it holds them. Household wiring beyond the socket belongs to a licensed electrician; sealed refrigeration circuits are regulated work.
