What this usually is
Asko dishwashers complain most often about spotting, filming and residue, and those are usually water-chemistry problems: hardness setting, salt and rinse aid. Cleaning complaints beyond that are usually filters and spray arms. Genuine component failures — drain pump, heater, control — are less common and are what remains once the consumables and the filters are right.
What you actually see
- White film or spots on glassware — Hardness setting, salt and rinse aid. Not a fault.
- Dishes still dirty in places — Spray arms, filters or loading.
- A gritty residue in cups — The filter, and the same water that carried it.
- Water left in the base at the end — Drainage: filter, hose or waste connection.
- The machine stopping mid-cycle — Drainage or a protective shutdown. See the electrical-safety page for the difference.
- Nothing at all when start is pressed — The will-not-start page, and find the spur first.
Causes, most likely first
- Water hardness, salt and rinse aid — First, and the cause of nearly every spotting and filming complaint.
- Filter and spray-arm blockage — Second, and it accounts for most genuine cleaning failures.
- Loading and detergent practice — Third, and it is usage rather than fault.
- Drainage restriction — Fourth, and it stretches out to the household waste pipe.
- Pump, heater and control — Last, and these are the real component failures.

What is not a homeowner job
Setting the hardness correctly, keeping salt and rinse aid topped up, cleaning the filter and clearing the spray-arm jets are owner jobs and they resolve the great majority of complaints. Call when all of that is right and the machine still cleans badly, will not drain or stops partway. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel, and turn off the water supply before disturbing a hose.

Where this page stops
This page is generalized across Asko dishwashers and is family-agnostic. It names no models, hardness settings, dosing quantities or cycle times, because those differ between builds sold under this badge and between local water supplies. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your machine, the symptom pages above link down to it and it is the more precise answer. Water supply, softening and the waste connection belong to the installation rather than to the appliance.
