- Inspect the freezer rear cover for frost against the fan — A ridge of ice on the cover edge is enough to catch a blade. Frost here also tells you that a defrost fault is developing, which is worth knowing before it becomes a warm cabinet.
- Kill power for a few minutes and listen to the restart — Everything that only happens under starting load — the grommet knock, the relay clatter — happens on the first few seconds of a restart, and nowhere else in the cycle.
