Do not mix chlorine bleach with any acid or descaling product in the drum; the combination produces a toxic gas in an enclosed space. Gloves in the filter housing, where glass and pins collect, and let hot water cool before opening the flap.

Call when the drain is proven clear, the habits have changed and the smell still comes back inside a month, because residue is then in the sump hose or the tub where hands cannot reach and a technician may need to remove and clean the hose.
