Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Turn the household supply off before removing an inlet hose: it is at mains pressure whenever the tap is open. Do not open a door mid-cycle on a hot wash to inspect foam; use the window. And never combine a chlorine bleach with a descaling product in the drum, because the mixture releases a toxic gas.
When to call a technician
Call when the dose is right, the drawer and seal are clean, the fill is brisk and clothes still come out with residue, because the fill level sensing and the drain are then the candidates and both need measurement. Call sooner if the drum smells despite a hot maintenance wash, since that suggests residue somewhere the cycle cannot reach. Poor water pressure at the tap is a plumbing matter and no appliance repair will compensate for it.
