The Arctic Wind MAV washer family covers two listings in the roster below, and on that platform a stalled cycle is usually a condition the machine is right to refuse. A cycle that will not complete is the machine refusing to proceed, and what it is waiting for is nearly always water, drainage or the door. The step where it stops is worth more than the code on the display, and it costs one cycle to observe.
What you observe
- The drum tumbles back and forth repeatedly and never spins — That is the redistribute loop: the machine has detected an unbalanced load, is trying to spread it, and will keep trying rather than spin unsafely.
- Everything works on one programme but not another — A single failing programme points at what that programme uses and others do not — hot fill, a heater, an extra rinse — rather than at the machine as a whole.
- The cycle adds rinses it was never programmed to run — Excess foam. The machine detects suds it cannot clear and keeps rinsing, which owners see as a cycle that will not end.
- The machine pauses for long periods with nothing happening — A soak or a heating step looks exactly like a stall from outside. Both are silent, both hold the display, and only the programme description separates them.
- NEAR MISS — the machine is completely dead with no lights — A cycle that never begins, with no display and no door lock, is a power or control fault rather than a stalled cycle, and it belongs on the will-not-start page.
Causes, most likely first on the MAV line
- Water not arriving: taps, hoses or inlet screens — Ranked first on the MAV line, because a machine will wait rather than wash dry laundry, and the fill is timed, so anything that slows the water stops the cycle instead of merely delaying it. Nothing in the roster below splits these listings apart for this fault, so the order that follows holds across the whole label.
- Over-dosed detergent producing suds the machine cannot clear — Second on the MAV line, because foam confuses both the level sensing and the drain step, so a machine will add rinses, refuse to spin or simply stop, and every symptom points at a fault that does not exist.
- Door or lid interlock not confirming — Third on the MAV line, because it is the one signal without which nothing at all will run, and it can fail while still holding the door shut, which is what makes the symptom so misleading.
- Pressure system misreading the water level — Fourth on the MAV line, because the sensing chamber and its hose collect residue and can trap water, and a machine that believes the drum is full will refuse to fill it.
- Control board or programme selector — Last on the MAV line: it is genuinely rare compared with the five above, and because almost every fault that looks like a failed board turns out to be a condition the machine was right to refuse.
What to check first, second, third
- Note exactly where in the cycle it stops — Empty drum, full drum, before spin or at the end: each of those four points to a different condition the machine is waiting on, and the answer costs one cycle to obtain.
- Feel the inlet hoses while the machine should be filling — A hose that is hard and still tells you water is arriving; one that is soft with the tap open points back at the tap, the screen or the pressure behind it.
- Run a spin-only programme with one towel in the drum — This isolates balance from everything else. A spin that completes with one towel and fails with a full load is the redistribute loop rather than a machine fault.

Safety
Shut both taps and unplug the appliance before the filter or any panel is opened — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A stalled machine can hold a drum of water that is still hot, so let it stand before the filter is opened and never force a locked door on a full drum. The interlock holds the door for exactly this reason and it should never be defeated to recover a load..
Models in the MAV family — This article generalizes over every listing above; a page written for a single model would go further than this one does. Numbers reproduced from the platform data for this label.

When this stops being an owner job
Call at the point where the next step needs the front or the top panel off, because that line puts the filter, the hoses, the seals and the feet on your side of it and everything else on the other. A stalled machine can wait, but a drum of standing water should not: drain it through the filter and take the laundry out the same day.
