Can a part from one of these models fit another?

Often, but not reliably. Order against the exact number on the rating plate, because the tails on these numbers sometimes do mark a change.

Can I clear the drain myself?

Usually yes. Warm water poured slowly into the opening will clear most ice bridges. Never use a metal probe: tubing runs close behind the drain and a puncture ends the machine.

The leak only appears every few hours. What does that tell me?

That it is following the defrost cycle rather than the water supply, which points firmly at the drain, the pan or the route between them.

Can a water filter cause a leak?

Yes. Filter housings leak at the seal, especially after a cartridge change, and they run continuously rather than following the defrost cycle.
