The short answer
On the Arctic Wind ACFW refrigerator line, an ice maker that has stopped is worth working through in a set order: a supply that is off, restricted or frozen at the inlet first, then a freezer that is not cold enough to harvest, and only after those does the sealed system enter the picture. That order is written for a line spanning several cabinet sizes and sequenced for how these models are put together, which is where it departs from the brand-generic article.
What you observe
- No ice at all, and the dispenser gives little or no water either — Ice and water failing together puts the fault on the shared supply rather than in the ice maker.
- The freezer is cold but the ice cream is soft — A compartment running warm will hold food and still refuse to harvest ice.
- NEAR MISS — nothing in the cabinet is properly cold — Then this is a cooling fault and the ice maker is a symptom, not the problem.
Causes, most likely first on the ACFW line
- The water supply is off, restricted or frozen at the inlet — Ranked first: an ice maker is a water appliance before it is anything else, and a shut-off valve someone closed, a kinked line behind the cabinet or a line frozen where it enters the freezer stops production completely with nothing wrong inside the machine.
- The freezer is not cold enough to harvest — A freezer running a little warm stops the harvest cycle without stopping anything else, which is why the compartment temperature is checked before the mechanism.
- The shut-off arm, the ice bin or a control setting — The shut-off arm or sensor is blocked or switched off often enough that it is worth ten seconds before anything else.
- A clogged water filter or a failing inlet valve — The filter and the valve remain the answer when the ice maker cycles correctly but the cubes are undersized.
- The ice maker module, its heater or the wiring to it — Last here, and the only cause on this list that is not owner work — a module that will not cycle, a harvest heater that has failed or a broken connection to the freezer harness is replacement work behind a panel, with the power off and the part matched to the cabinet.
Check in this order, and why
- Find the shut-off valve behind or under the cabinet and confirm it is fully open — Then follow the line for kinks where the cabinet has been pushed back against it. Done first because it separates the likeliest causes before any tool is needed.
- Measure the freezer temperature rather than trusting the display — Second: it confirms or dismisses what the first check suggested.
- Look at the shut-off arm or sensor window and the seating of the bin — Third, once the two checks above are clean.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut the water off at the wall valve before touching any fitting, and have a towel ready — the line stays charged after the valve closes. Do not prise ice out of the mould with a screwdriver; the heater element sits directly underneath it.

When to call a technician
Call when water reaches the mould, the freezer is genuinely cold and nothing ever ejects, because that is the module and it is replaced behind a panel. Call sooner if you find water anywhere it should not be while you are looking.
