Before you open anything
An AooDen dishwasher that is not heating leaves grease on everything and undissolved detergent in the dispenser, and it usually runs long while the control waits for a temperature that never arrives. Scale on the element is the underlying cause in hard-water areas; a thermal cut-out that has already tripped once is the second suspect, and it points back at the first.
How this shows up
- Grease and film on plates and cutlery — Fat needs heat. This is the practical consequence and usually the first thing noticed.
- Detergent tablet only partly dissolved — Direct visual evidence of the water temperature the wash actually reached.
- China cool to the touch immediately after the cycle — The confirming test. Plastics are always cool and tell you nothing.
- Programme times stretching well past their estimate — The control is waiting for a temperature. This appears before the greasy plates do.
- NEAR MISS: wet plates but clean and warm — That is a drying problem, and rinse aid fixes far more of those than any repair.
What is behind it, in order
- Scaled or failed heating element — First in hard-water areas, because scale insulates the element from the water it is meant to heat and the element overheats and opens.
- A thermal cut-out that has tripped — Second, and it is a consequence rather than a cause: something made it trip, and that something is usually the first item.
- Temperature sensor reading high — Third. The machine stops heating early and produces warm rather than hot water.
- Programme choice — Fourth, and free to eliminate. Short and eco cycles heat far less by design.
- Control not calling for heat — Last, diagnosed only after measurement rules out the element and the sensor.
Work down this list
- Feel the china immediately at the end of a long programme — Confirms the fault before anybody spends money on it.
- Look at the dispenser for undissolved tablet — Corroborating evidence that costs nothing.
- Compare actual run time with the stated time — A long run points at the heater; a normal run at the sensor or control.
- Check the programme and any eco setting — Because it is free and it is embarrassing to miss.
What an owner can safely do
- Run a long hot programme empty and feel the tub afterwards — A clean baseline with no load absorbing heat and no loading variables.
About 90 min
- Check and refill the salt reservoir if the machine has one — Softened water is what keeps scale off the element in the first place, and an empty reservoir is common.

- Run a descaling maintenance cycle — A proprietary descaler on an empty machine removes light scale from the element and the tub.
Tools: descalerAbout 90 min
- Clean the filter and spray arms, then repeat the hot test — Poor circulation imitates poor heating. Stop here: the element itself is measured on an isolated machine.

The hazard on this machine
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A dishwasher element is a mains component sitting in water, and a failed one may have failed to earth rather than simply gone open, so a machine that merely washes cold can still be electrically dangerous. Never mix a descaler with bleach or any chlorine product in the tub: the combination produces a toxic gas in an enclosed cabinet.
What is not a homeowner job
Call when the machine is clean, descaled, correctly programmed and still washing cold, because the element, the cut-out and the sensor all need measuring across isolated terminals. Call sooner if the machine trips a breaker on hot programmes, since that is an electrical fault with a heating symptom and it changes the priority entirely. Ask the technician to test rather than replace on suspicion; an element is easy to fit and easy to fit unnecessarily.

Where this page stops
This page describes the AooDen dishwasher as a class and stops short of family or model detail. It publishes no element ratings, no sensor tables and no terminal identifiers, because those differ between builds under this badge and a wrong figure buys a wrong part. Where a family- or model-specific page exists it holds those details and is the right place to shop from. Water hardness, household water heating and supply temperature sit outside this page although all three change what the machine has to do.
