Amarilis ASD owners usually report this as "it runs all the time and nothing is cold", and that phrasing is the diagnosis. The matrix on this page is the definitive list for this family: one model number. A unit chasing a setpoint it cannot reach has lost airflow, not refrigerant, and the order below reflects that.
What you actually observe
- The cabinet is warm but the unit is clearly running — You can hear the unit working and feel warmth at the back, yet nothing inside is chilled.
- The fresh-food side warms before the freezer does — On a single-evaporator cabinet the fresh-food side is fed by air from the freezer, so it loses temperature first.
- The compressor never shuts off — A compressor that used to rest between cycles and now runs through the night is working against a target it cannot meet.
- Condensation or sweating inside the cabinet — Warm humid air is being held at a temperature where it gives up moisture instead of freezing it out.
- The back of the unit is unusually hot to the hand — A condenser that cannot shed heat runs hot and drives head pressure up, which shows as poor cooling inside.
- NEAR MISS — the unit is silent and nothing is cold — Silence changes the diagnosis completely: start there with power and the start device, not with airflow.
What it usually is, in order
- Stalled defrost cycle icing the evaporator — First on the ASD line because a defrost circuit fails progressively: the heater or the control drops out on some cycles and not others, so ice accumulates faster than it clears and the owner sees the consequence long before the cause.
- Evaporator fan motor failure — Second, and it is the cause most often mistaken for the first: no air moves, the cabinet warms, but the evaporator stays clean because nothing has stopped the defrost cycle.
- Condenser coil or condenser fan choked — Third: dust and pet hair blanket the coil, the unit cannot reject heat, and cooling falls off gradually. It is the cause that tracks how the appliance is installed rather than which model you own.
- Sealed-system or compressor fault — Last. It is rare relative to the three above, it needs licensed refrigerant work, and nothing about the ASD line makes it more likely than the airflow causes.
The check order on these models
- Hold the freezer door switch closed and listen — A fan you can hear removes one of the two likeliest causes immediately, and it needs nothing but a hand.
- Take the bottom basket out and look at the rear panel — A solid sheet of ice rather than a light dusting tells you the defrost circuit stopped working weeks ago.
- Move the unit out and put a hand near the condenser — Trapped heat and a mat of dust are a slow degradation rather than a sudden failure, which is why they come third.
- Leave a thermometer in a glass of water on the middle shelf overnight — What the cabinet actually holds is worth more to a technician than any reading on the door panel.
Before any panel comes off
Safety
Isolate the appliance at its breaker or unplug it before any panel comes off — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The rear panel of the freezer carries the defrost heater: treat it as live until the unit is isolated, and let an iced coil thaw on its own rather than forcing it. Never cut, bend or braze anything on the refrigerant circuit.

When to call a technician
The condition on these models is simple: if the next step needs gauges, a meter or the evaporator exposed, it is a service call. Everything before that point is a look and a listen. Do not run a cabinet that trips its breaker in the hope of keeping food cold — it will not, and the fault is electrical.
