What the display is telling you
F63 names four possibilities: the touch control, the power control module, the wiring between them, or the electrical supply. Check the breaker first, then reset; a code that survives both is a board or wiring fault under the glass. Note whether the keys or the zones misbehave, because that splits the reading in half.
Error codes
Reference| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| F63 | There may be a problem with the User Interface (Touch Control), the Power Control Module, the associated wiring, or the electrical supply. |
What you notice alongside F63
- The breaker has tripped or feels loose — Points at the supply, the one part of the reading an owner can check.
- Lights dim when the cooktop is used — A supply connection problem upstream of the cooktop itself.
- The code appears at power-up — A start-up check failing before any zone has been switched on.
- NEAR MISS: only one zone fails — A single-zone fault is a different reading, usually that zone’s own sensor or coil.
What triggers F63, ranked
- Electrical supply problem — First, because it is the one owner-checkable item in the reading: the breaker and the supply connection.
- Power control module failed — Second: the module that drives the zones fails, often from heat.
- Touch control failed — Third: the touch control, if keys are the main complaint.
- Wiring between them — Fourth: a cable or connector fault that mimics either board.
Diagnostic order
- Watch other heavy appliances and the lights — Upstream problems show elsewhere too, and they belong to an electrician.
- Breaker reset and retest — Then test the keys and one zone, and note which of the two misbehaves.
- Note whether keys or zones fail — Keys point at the touch control, zones at the power module.
- Technician tests modules and wiring — Under the glass, with the power off, once the supply is ruled out.
Reset and owner-safe checks
- Key and zone test — Press each key, then run one zone with a pan, and note what fails.

- House check — Run another heavy appliance and watch the lights.
About 5 min
- Load test — Add a second zone and see whether the code appears under load.

- STOP before opening the junction box — The supply connection under the counter is electrician work.
Safety first
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Keep water away from the controls while the cooktop is powered, and never lift the glass top to look underneath.
When a reset is not enough
If the supply checks point upstream, the electrician comes first. If the breaker and supply are sound and F63 remains, a technician tests the touch control, the power module and the wiring under the glass.

Scope of this reading
The reading above covers Amana electric and induction cooktops with touch controls. It does not cover Amana gas cooktops, Amana ranges, whose surface codes are listed with the oven codes, or sister brands on the same platform, whose lists can read differently. A model-specific page for F63, where one exists, is the more specific answer; none exists yet, so check the use-and-care guide for your exact model before ordering any part.
