A hum with no flow means a jammed impeller, a strain means a restriction further down, and silence means the pump was never asked to run at all.
What the owner reports
- The cycle ends with water still in the drum — A completed cycle over a full drum means the pump was asked to run and the water did not leave.
- The pump hums but no water moves — An impeller jammed by a foreign object, or a pump running against a blocked outlet.
- Silence where the drain stage should be — No pump noise at all points at power to the pump, the control, or a pressure switch that never asked for a drain.
- Water drains slowly rather than not at all — A partial restriction — lint in the filter, a hose starting to kink, or a standpipe silting up.
- The machine stops mid-cycle and will not advance — A cycle that hangs at the same point every time is waiting for a level change that never comes.
- NEAR MISS — the drum will not spin but the water does leave — Water that leaves normally with a drum that will not turn is a drive fault, and nothing on this page applies.
What it usually is, in order
- Pump filter blocked with lint and pocket debris — First here because the matrix on this page spans enough models to cross more than one production run — it is the only part of the drain path meant to be opened by the owner, and it accounts for the majority of no-drain calls.
- Drain hose kinked, crushed or pushed too far into the standpipe — Second: the hose is outside the machine and is disturbed every time the appliance is moved, so it fails without anything wearing out.
- Standpipe or household drain restricted — Third: the machine is working and the plumbing is not, which shows as water backing up rather than water staying in the drum.
- Pump impeller damaged or the pump not being driven — Last: a genuine pump failure, distinguished by whether the pump hums or is silent, and it is the only entry here needing a part.
The check order on these models
- Open the pump filter with a tray and towels down first — the housing holds standing water — It is the designed trap and it resolves most no-drain faults with no part at all.
- With the filter out, reach in and turn the impeller by hand — A jam is obvious immediately and whatever caused it usually comes out with it.
- Move the machine out and follow the drain hose along its whole length — A kink behind a foot or a crush against the wall defeats a working pump.
- Pour water into the standpipe and watch it go — Last: it moves the question out of the appliance, and a standpipe that backs up on its own is a plumbing job.

Unplug the machine or switch off its breaker before opening the filter or any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The filter housing holds standing water: put a shallow tray and towels down first, and open it slowly. If the drum is full, bail it down before opening anything, and never open a front-loading door against a full drum.

When to call a technician
Call when the drain stage is silent with a latched lid, or when the filter, the impeller and the hose are all clear and water still stays in the drum. On the NTW line everything reachable through the filter opening is owner work and the pump motor, the pressure sensing and the control are not.
