The short answer
An ice maker on the AQU refrigerators stops for one of two reasons: water is not arriving, or the harvest is never triggered. On these models a kinked or part-closed supply is the first thing this page would have you rule out. All but one of the causes below can be settled without a technician.
What you observe on these models
- The bin is empty and the maker looks untouched — Nothing has been attempted, which points at the trigger rather than the mechanism.
- The cubes are hollow, small or half formed — A partial fill is a flow problem, not a maker problem.
- There is ice on the shelf under the maker rather than in the bin — Water is going where it should not before it freezes.
- NEAR MISS — the water dispenser has stopped as well — Then the fault is on the supply side of both, not inside the maker.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Supply line kinked or the shut-off barely open — A line crushed behind the appliance when it was pushed back restricts the flow enough to starve a fill without stopping it. It leads because it is the likeliest of the set on these cabinets. One design carries every cabinet size in this family, so it holds across the line.
- Ice bridged solid in the bin — Bridging follows a door left open or a power cut, so it usually arrives with a story attached. Second: common enough on these models to come before anything below it.
- Mould thermostat or thermistor not sensing — This is the point at which the diagnosis stops being an owner job on most designs. Third on the list, where the likelihoods start to fall away.
- Harvest heater open circuit — The heater releases the cubes from the mould; with it open the ejector fingers turn against ice that has not let go. Last of the set listed here, and the least likely of them on this family.
- Body: Because this family is one design at several capacities, the air path is the part that is worked hardest at the top of the ladder — which is what moves airflow causes above installation ones here.
Check in this order, and why
- Pull the appliance out, follow the line for a kink and check the shut-off is fully open. — It comes first because it matches the cause ranked first above.
- Empty the bin completely and check the level arm or sensor is free to fall. — Next in order, following the ranking rather than convenience.
- Look in the mould: solid ice that is never ejected points at the harvest side rather than the fill side. — Last of the set, and only worth doing once the others are clean.
Cut the power before anything else
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A loaded cabinet is heavy and top-heavy with the doors open, so empty it and get help before moving it. Shut the water supply off before disturbing the valve or the fill line, and never thaw a fill tube with a flame or a heat gun.

When to call a technician
The arm, the bin, the filter, the shut-off and the line are yours. The module, the harvest heater and the mould sensor are where an owner stops on most designs. Call sooner if the maker is grinding, because that strips gears.
