- Water filter clogged or overdue — what it looks like — In the common case, filters block gradually, so production fades rather than stops. Compare the dispenser flow with how it ran when the filter was new.
- Freezer not cold enough to harvest, in detail — Practically speaking, the mold has to reach its harvest temperature or the cycle never starts. Measure the freezer with a thermometer rather than trusting the panel.
- Fill tube frozen over — Nine times in ten, it most frequently follows a slow fill or a temperature swing. Record whether the last few harvests were undersized before it stopped.

Safety
Treat the cabinet as live until the plug is out. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never work on the sealed system: refrigerant handling needs a licensed technician and recovery equipment.
When to call a technician
More often than not, book a visit if ice production stops each time the freezer warms, since the cooling fault is the real call and the ice maker is only reporting it. Beyond that point another owner test adds nothing that a technician will not measure directly.
