The short answer
Check whether the water is on the outside of the glass before anything else — on an AKDY beverage cooler, condensation running off a cold door in a humid kitchen is the commonest source. A blocked internal drain is second, a dropped or hardened door seal is third, and a genuine failure of the liner or the tray is the least likely of the four.
What you observe
- Water on the outside of the glass, running down — Room moisture condensing. Not a leak.
- A puddle at the front of the plinth — Where condensation off the door collects.
- Water standing inside at the base of the liner — The internal drain is blocked.
- The door sits low or the seal gaps at one corner — Warm moist air entering continuously.
- NEAR MISS — a little water in the rear channel — Normal drainage on its way out.
Causes, most likely first on this class
- Condensation on the outside of the glass door — First because the door is a large cold pane facing a warm humid room, and nothing else in the kitchen behaves that way. The water is room moisture, the cabinet is working, and no part will fix it.
- Internal drain blocked, so water backs up inside — Second: the small drain at the back of the liner collects dust and spilled drink, and once it closes the meltwater has nowhere to go but the cabinet floor.
- Door seal not touching all round — Third: a heavy glass door settles on its hinges, and a seal that gaps at one corner feeds warm moist air in without pause, which then condenses inside.
- Liner or evaporation tray failure — Last. Its tell is water arriving with a clear drain, a good seal and a dry outer pane, and it needs a technician to confirm.
Check in this order, and why
- Wipe the outer pane and see whether it returns — Free, and it identifies the commonest source at once.
- Look for standing water at the base of the liner — Water inside means the drain, not the room.
- Clear the drain at the back of the liner — The top in-cabinet cause and an owner job.
- Close the door on paper at each corner — Left until here because a seal check needs the rest ruled out.
What an owner can safely check
- Dry the outer pane and watch whether moisture returns — Returning mist on the outside is the room, not the cooler.
Tools: clothAbout 15 min
- Unload the cabinet and check the base of the liner — Standing water inside moves you to the drain.
About 20 min
- Clear the small drain hole at the rear of the liner — Flush gently with warm water; use nothing sharp.
Tools: warm water, soft brushAbout 25 min
- Close the door on a sheet of paper at each corner — It should drag everywhere. A free corner is a dropped door.
About 15 min
- STOP HERE if water arrives with a clear drain and a good seal — Liner and tray work is a service call.
Before you open anything
Safety
Isolate the unit at its spur or unplug it before clearing a drain or removing the vent grille; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and a built-in appliance is often fed from a socket hidden behind cabinetry. Water under a plinth reaches that socket and the cabinetry around it, so dry the floor first. Never poke a drain with a metal tool — the liner and the evaporator sit behind it.
When to call a technician
Call when the outer pane is dry, the drain runs clear, the seal touches all round and water still appears — the liner or the evaporation tray is then the answer. Call a kitchen fitter instead if water has been running under the plinth long enough to swell the units around it. Isolate the cooler immediately if water has reached a socket or a lead.

What this page does not cover
This page is written for the brand and the appliance class, not for one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit, that page is the more specific answer and you should start there. Deliberately absent: ambient humidity limits, drain and tray dimensions, seal and hinge part identifiers and fault-code meanings, all of which differ between the under-counter, freestanding and dual-zone families.
