The short answer
A countertop Airmsen that lights but never runs is usually waiting for water: check that the tap is open and the adapter fully engaged. A door that has not closed its latch switch is second. A child lock set by accident is third, and a dark display means a supply fault rather than a machine fault.
What you observe
- The display lights, a programme is accepted, nothing runs — Usually no water, or an unlatched door.
- The tap is closed, or was turned off mid-cycle — The supply only exists while the tap runs.
- Water escaping at the tap collar instead — The adapter is not fully engaged.
- The door needs a firm push to click — The catch holds before the switch makes.
- NEAR MISS — the display is dark and nothing responds — Breaker or socket, not the machine.
Causes, most likely first on this class
- Tap closed, or the adapter not engaged — First because the supply on this class only exists while somebody keeps the tap open, and a sink is used for a dozen other things. The machine waits quietly with no useful indication.
- Door latch not closing its switch — Second: a light countertop cabinet flexes, so the door can feel shut and latched while the switch behind it never makes contact at all.
- Child lock set on a flat console — Third, and free to clear. It is set by accident far more often on a machine that lives on a worktop that gets wiped.
- Supply fault, or a failed latch switch or board — Last. A dark display means the socket or the breaker; a board failure behind a lit display is genuinely uncommon at this size.
Check in this order, and why
- Note whether the display lights at all — One observation that splits the fault list in two.
- Open the tap and check the adapter is engaged — The top cause on this class, and free.
- Press the door firmly shut and listen for the latch — A soft or absent click is the second cause.
- Clear any lock and test the socket with a lamp — Left until here because both are quick eliminations.
What an owner can safely check
- Open the tap fully and confirm water reaches the machine — Watch the tap collar for water escaping instead.
About 10 min
- Remove and refit the adapter square on the spout — Hand tight and straight, with the washer sitting flat.
About 15 min
- Close the door firmly and listen for a clean click — Support the cabinet so it cannot flex as you push.
About 10 min
- Hold the padlock button until the symbol clears — Then start the cycle again from the beginning.
About 10 min
- STOP HERE if the next step means opening the machine — Latch switches and the board sit on live terminals.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A countertop machine lives beside a sink and often beside a socket, so dry the surface before plugging anything back in. Never bridge, tape or jam the door latch switch to force a cycle — it exists to stop the machine spraying near-boiling water out of an open door at eye level.
When to call a technician
Call when the tap is open, the adapter is engaged, no lock is set, the door latches cleanly and the machine still refuses — the latch switch or the board is then the answer. Weigh a repair against replacement first, because on a countertop machine a board usually costs a large share of the unit. Call an electrician if the breaker will not hold.

What this page does not cover
This page is written for the brand and the appliance class, not for one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit, that page is the more specific answer and you should start there. Deliberately absent: adapter thread sizes, latch and board part identifiers, console button sequences and fault-code meanings, all of which differ between the tap-connected, tank-fill and plumbed families.
