The short answer
A AIRMSEN dishwasher leak is usually the door, the detergent or a connection — and where the water appears tells you which. On a compact or countertop machine with a small sump, a single pump and a short hose run, which fails differently from a built-in, the door gasket and over-sudsing account for more leaks than any failed part.
What you are actually seeing
- Water at the front, below the door — The door gasket, a dropped door, or suds. Check what detergent went in before anything else.
- Foam on the floor rather than water — Wrong detergent or far too much of it. The machine is fine.
- Water under the machine only during the cycle — A connection or the sump, under pressure only while the pump runs.
- A slow puddle that appears when the machine is idle — The inlet side, which is pressurised whenever the supply valve is open.
- Water only after a heavy or tall load — A spray arm striking an item and throwing water at the vent or the door edge.
- Not this fault: damp cabinetry with a dry machine — Look at the sink and its trap: they share a space, and they leak into it.
Causes, most likely first on this machine
- The wrong detergent, or too much of it — First, because it is free to test and it is the single commonest cause of water on a kitchen floor. Hand dish soap makes suds that no dishwasher can contain.
- The door gasket hardened, torn or displaced — Second: it is the seal that works at every cycle, and it fails visibly and by hand.
- A machine that is not level, or a door that has dropped — Third: the water finds the lowest corner, which is why the leak is always at the same place.
- The inlet connection or the fill valve — Fourth: pressurised whenever the supply is open, so it leaks whether the machine runs or not.
- The drain hose or its clip — Fifth: it leaks during drain only, which makes the timing unmistakable.
- The sump, the pump seal or the tub — Last: the repair that needs the machine out, and the least likely of the six.
Check in this order, and why
- Ask what detergent was used — It costs one question and it resolves a real share of these before anything is touched.
- Dry the floor and lay paper down — Timing and position are the diagnosis, and paper records both.
- Run a short cycle and watch each stage — Fill, wash, drain. Note which one produces water.
- Inspect the door gasket by hand all the way round — Hardness, splits and trapped debris are all found by touch.
- Check the machine is level and the door sits square — Free, and it explains a leak that always appears at one corner.
What an owner can safely check
- Run a cycle with the correct detergent only — If the last wash had hand soap in it, run a rinse cycle first with nothing added to clear the residue.

- Dry the floor and place paper at the door and under the machine — Then run a short cycle and check the paper at each stage rather than at the end.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel or the kickboard — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and leaked water sits directly beneath the wiring. Close the supply valve before touching any fitting. Never work on a machine standing in water. The water inside can be hot enough to scald, so let a cycle finish and cool before opening anything. Do not add drain chemicals to clear a suspected blockage.
When to call a technician
Call when the detergent, the gasket, the level and the visible connections have all been checked and the leak persists, because what remains needs the machine withdrawn. Call sooner if water has reached the machine's own wiring or an outlet, if the leak runs with the machine idle and the supply valve open, or if cabinetry or flooring is being damaged — at that point the delay costs more than the visit.
