The short answer
The two commonest Aicook complaints are noise and weak cooling, and both are usually about where the cabinet stands rather than what is inside it. A mini fridge on a hard floor against a wall transmits every cycle into the room, and a small cabinet in a warm room cools relative to that room rather than to a target. Real component failures are a minority of reports.
The problems that actually happen, by what you observe
- Audible hum or click that wakes you at night — Normal cycling amplified by a hard floor and a nearby wall.
- Cool but not cold, especially in a warm room — The defining limitation of a small cabinet: performance is measured against the room it stands in.
- Ice forming in the small freezer box — Expected on a manual-defrost cabinet, and a fault only when it closes the airflow gap.
- Water under the cabinet — Drain blocked, or the unit standing out of level so the evaporation tray overflows.
- Runs constantly and never switches off — Clearance, room temperature or a door not sealing. Rarely the compressor.
- Contents at the back freeze while the door shelf is warm — Stratification in a small box. Move items rather than changing the setting.
Problem classes in frequency order on this brand
- Placement and acoustics — First on a cabinet bought for a quiet room. Hard floors, thin walls and a unit pressed into a corner turn ordinary compressor and fan noise into a complaint. Nothing has failed, and no part will fix it — a mat, a few inches of space and a different corner will.
- Ambient temperature and clearance — Second. Small cabinets are rated to work within a range of room temperatures, and a hot room or a unit in a cupboard puts it outside that range. It runs continuously and still does not get properly cold, which reads as a dying machine.
- Manual defrost neglect — Third. The freezer box ices up because it is meant to be defrosted by hand, and a solid ice block eventually blocks the airflow the fresh compartment depends on.
- Door seal and levelling — Fourth. A light door and adjustable feet that were never set let the door sit open by a fraction, which ices the cold plate and warms the cabinet at the same time.
- Thermostat and sealed-system faults — Last. A thermostat that sticks gives permanent running or frozen contents; a sealed-system fault on a cabinet this size effectively ends its life. Neither should be the first conclusion.
Which of these an owner can fix
Moving the cabinet off a hard floor, giving it clearance, levelling it, defrosting the freezer box properly and cleaning the gasket are owner work and resolve most complaints on this brand. Verify temperature with a thermometer before deciding anything is wrong. There is little worth calling out on a cabinet this size: a thermostat can be economic, a sealed-system fault is not. Stop using the unit and unplug it if you smell burning or see scorching at the plug.
