Shorted key / relay protection loss

F1 indicates a loss of safety relay monitoring. Do not attempt to operate the oven. Turn off the circuit breaker and do not restore power until the control board is replaced by a qualified technician. On gas models, also close the gas supply valve.
Turn off the oven circuit breaker immediately — F1 indicates a safety relay monitoring failure on the control board
After 10 minutes, restore power and observe whether the oven attempts to heat without any button input — if it does, the relay is stuck closed and the unit is unsafe
Disconnect the bake and broil element wire leads at the control board before restoring power to safely test the board response
If F1 persists with heating elements disconnected, the control board relay circuit has failed and the board must be replaced
On gas models, F1 may indicate the gas safety valve relay circuit has lost monitoring capability
Pro Diagnostic Tip
F1 is a safety-critical code. Unlike other fault codes, LG ovens with F1 should not be operated at all until repaired. The relay protection circuit prevents the oven from heating uncontrolled — if this circuit fails, the oven could heat with the door open and no user input.
