Meat probe shorted

Do not use a damaged meat probe — exposed wiring inside the oven cavity is a shock hazard at 120V. Replace the probe rather than repair it.
Remove the meat probe from the oven jack
Clean the probe jack inside the oven with a dry cotton swab — grease buildup is the top cause
Inspect the probe cable for cuts, kinks, or melted insulation
Test probe resistance at room temp — should read around 50k ohms
If resistance reads near 0, the probe is internally shorted — replace it
If probe tests good but FD persists, the jack or ERC probe circuit is faulty
Pro Diagnostic Tip
FD only appears when the oven detects the probe circuit is completed (shorted). If no probe is inserted and FD still shows, the jack receptacle has internal contamination or a short. Clean with electrical contact cleaner first before replacing the jack.
