Open oven sensor RTD

Self-clean cycles stress the sensor at 900F+ — if F3 appeared during or after self-clean, the sensor likely failed from thermal fatigue. Common on units over 5 years old.
Power off at breaker
Locate oven sensor probe at the top-rear of the oven cavity
Check sensor connector at the back of the range — reseat if loose
Measure sensor resistance at connector (expect ~1080 ohms at room temp)
If resistance reads open (OL/infinite), the sensor or wiring is broken
Trace wiring from sensor to ERC for breaks — replace sensor if element is open
Pro Diagnostic Tip
F3 (open) and F4 (shorted) both point to the same sensor but indicate opposite failure modes. If you get both codes alternating, the wiring has an intermittent break — flex the harness while measuring resistance to find the break point.
