Water and electricity together demand caution: switch off at the breaker before working on a leaking appliance and dry the floor before standing there. Never chip ice with a metal tool, since the liner and the evaporator tubing behind it puncture easily, which ends the repair permanently.

Clearing the drain, seating the drip tray, levelling and checking the seal are owner work. Call a technician when the drain reblocks within weeks, since that usually means the defrost heater is not clearing the evaporator; when the drip tray is cracked; and when the compartment misses the safe holding temperature quoted above.
