What this usually is
On a Merax washing machine, water on the floor is most often a loose or perished inlet hose connection rather than a machine out of level, or overfilling. The installation comes first, because a light machine on an uneven floor produces most of the faults this brand is asked about. All three checks below are owner work, and not one of them needs a part.
What the owner observes
- Water underneath with the outside dry — A leak that appears from underneath is internal and needs a panel off.
- Water at the front during the wash — Front and wash together points at the door seal.
- A slow puddle at the bottom front — Bottom front is the filter cap's territory, especially after it has been opened.
- NEAR MISS — damp inside the door but no puddle — Condensation at the door is normal on most cycles and is not a leak.
What goes wrong here, in order
- A loose or perished inlet hose connection — The fill hoses carry mains pressure whenever the tap is open, so a washer that only leaks on fill is almost always leaking at a hose end. Rubber washers harden and connections work loose with vibration. It leads because it is the only part of this machine under constant mains pressure, and pressure finds every loose joint eventually. The machines are light, which matters more than it sounds: a light machine walks where a heavy one only vibrates.
- A drain hose split, loose at the standpipe, or backing up — The drain hose sees a surge every time the pump runs. A split, a clip that has worked loose, or a standpipe that cannot take the flow all put water on the floor during the drain phase only. It sits here because the hose run is visible from behind without moving anything heavy.
- A machine out of level, or overfilling — An unlevel machine slops water past the door during spin. A pressure system reading the level wrongly overfills, which shows as water at the drawer and the door with the machine otherwise healthy. It is last because the machine sits solid and level.
What to check first, second, third
- Dry both hose ends and look again after a fill — A wet joint on a dry background tells you exactly which one. First, because it is the likeliest to end the job.
- Watch the hose and the standpipe through a drain phase — The surge shows up a split or a loose clip immediately. Second, once that is clean.
- Rock the machine and watch the water level through the door — Rocking, or a level above the glass, are both visible without a tool. Third, and by now the answer is usually in hand.

- Close the taps, then check and tighten both hose ends — Replace a hardened rubber washer while you are there.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Dry the floor before kneeling down to look, and never open the pump filter without a tray under it.
When to call a technician
The line is the cabinet. Hoses, the door seal, the filter cap, the dose and the level are all yours; the sump, the internal hoses and the pressure system are not. A leak under the machine is the second kind. On this brand spares are ordered from the seller, so the checks that need no part come first.
