On a Merax washing machine, a cycle that stops partway is most often an overloaded drum stalling the motor rather than an unbalanced load the machine keeps trying to fix. How hard it is worked comes first, because a light compact machine reaches its limit on loads its owner thinks are ordinary. All three checks below are owner work, and not one of them needs a part.

- The display goes blank or resets mid-cycle — A reset rather than a stop is a supply or control event.

Causes, most likely first on this brand
- An overloaded drum stalling the motor — A drum packed past its rating draws more from the motor than it can give. Protection cuts in, the machine pauses, and after enough attempts it stops with the load still wet. It leads because overpacking is a habit rather than an event, and this machine is small enough to feel it. The machines are light, which matters more than it sounds: a light machine walks where a heavy one only vibrates.
- A wash that never reaches temperature — A cycle that heats will wait for its target. A tired element, or a cold fill on a machine that expected a hot one, leaves it waiting far longer than the programme allows before it stops. It sits here because running a cold programme is a free test that isolates it in one wash.
- An unbalanced load the machine keeps trying to fix — Faced with a load on one side of the drum, the machine slows, redistributes and tries again. Several failed attempts and it gives up, leaving a wet load and a cycle that appears to have stalled at spin. It is last because it also stalls with an empty drum, which rules the load out.
The order to check in
- Halve the load and run the same programme — A drum that turns freely is a drum the motor can manage. First, because it is the likeliest to end the job.
- Run a cold programme all the way through — Completing cold and stalling hot isolates the heating side in one wash. Second, once that is clean.
- Watch what it does at the start of spin — Slowing, redistributing and retrying is the balance routine rather than a fault. Third, and by now the answer is usually in hand.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A machine that has stalled may still complete its cycle without warning when power returns — isolate it before reaching inside.
Where the owner fix ends
Call when the machine stalls at the same point with the filter clear, the taps open and the load balanced, or when it resets repeatedly on a supply that is proven good.
