It leads because the timing points straight at it: a stop that only ever happens once the drum speeds up. These sit in apartments and rentals, often on a floor that was never levelled for them.
- An overloaded drum stalling the motor — A drum packed past its rating draws more from the motor than it can give. Protection cuts in, the machine pauses, and after enough attempts it stops with the load still wet. It ranks here because halving the load is an immediate test that needs nothing.
- Water arriving too slowly to complete a fill — A partly closed tap, a kinked hose or a silted inlet screen still fills the machine, but not fast enough. The cycle waits for a level it never reaches in time and halts without an obvious reason. It is last because the machine fills briskly, which rules it out.

- Note whether the stop always happens as the drum speeds up — A stop tied to spin-up points at the lock losing contact under vibration. First, because it is the likeliest to end the job.
- Halve the load and run the same programme — A drum that turns freely is a drum the motor can manage. Second, once that is clean.
- Watch a fill and check both taps are fully open — A slow fill stalls a cycle without ever looking like a fault. Third, and by now the answer is usually in hand.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A machine that has stalled may still complete its cycle without warning when power returns — isolate it before reaching inside.

Call when the machine stalls at the same point with the filter clear, the taps open and the load balanced, or when it resets repeatedly on a supply that is proven good.
