What this usually is
On a Magic Clean washing machine, water on the floor is most often a pump filter left unseated after cleaning rather than a cracked sump, tub or internal hose. The mechanical and blockage causes come first on a contract-built machine: there is less on the board to go wrong than in the water path. The first two checks below are owner work and need no part; the third is a service call.
What the owner observes
- Water only while the machine is filling — Water on fill points at the inlet hoses, which are the only parts under mains pressure.
- Foam creeping out of the drawer — That is a dose problem, and the machine itself is fine.
- The leak started after the machine was moved — Moving disturbs hoses and clips, and it disturbs the level.
- NEAR MISS — the drum is full and will not empty — Water inside rather than outside is a drainage fault on its own page.
What goes wrong here, in order
- A pump filter left unseated after cleaning — The filter cap seals on a rubber ring. Cross-threaded, left a quarter turn short, or fitted with grit on the seat, it weeps slowly from the bottom front and the puddle is blamed on the machine. It leads because the timing gives it away: the leak began the week the filter was last opened. These sit in apartments and rentals, often on a floor that was never levelled for them.
- Too much detergent forcing suds out — Over-dosing creates a foam volume the machine was never designed to hold. The suds climb out at the drawer and the door and reach the floor, and the machine itself is entirely undamaged. It ranks here because a single low-dose wash is a decisive free test.
- A cracked sump, tub or internal hose — An object that got past the drum can crack the sump, and internal hose clips loosen with vibration. The leak is under the machine, appears during the wash, and cannot be seen from outside. It is last because it is the only cause here that is not owner work.
The order to check in
- Check the filter cap is fully home and the seat is clean — A quarter turn short is the commonest leak of all after a filter clean. First, because it is the likeliest to end the job.
- Run one wash at half the usual dose and watch — If the foam stops, nothing was ever broken. Second, once that is clean.
- Look underneath with a torch during a wash — Water arriving from above, inside the cabinet, means a panel has to come off. Third, and by now the answer is usually in hand.
The owner-side checks
- Reseat the filter cap with the seat wiped clean — Hand tight and fully home; cross-threading it makes the leak worse.

The part that is not optional
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Close the water taps before touching any hose: an inlet hose that lets go under mains pressure empties into a room faster than you can reach the stopcock.
When to call a technician
Call when the water arrives from underneath with every external joint dry, when the machine overfills past the glass, or when a leak returns after hoses, seal and filter have all been dealt with.
