Most Likely Cause#
An LG washer with a dark or unresponsive display is usually losing power before the board or failing at the board that drives the panel — the screen itself is rarely the problem. The most common cause is a failed line filter, the component that conditions incoming power before the main board; when it fails, the machine goes completely dead. Next come a fault in the main control board's power section, a loose ribbon connector to the display, a failed user-interface board, and a tripped outlet or GFCI. A damaged power cord is the least common cause.
Sort the symptom first. Nothing at all — no lights, no beep — points at the line filter, the outlet, or the board's power section. A panel that lights but ignores touches points at the user-interface board or touchpad. Partial or flickering segments point at the ribbon connector.

Line Filter and Power#
Because a failed line filter is the top cause of a completely dead LG washer, it is the first internal suspect once the outlet is ruled out. The filter sits between the power cord and the main board, conditioning the incoming supply; when it fails, no power passes downstream and the whole machine is dark. Confirm the outlet first by resetting the breaker and any GFCI and testing it with another device, then test the line filter for output. If the filter passes power but the panel is still dead, the main board's power section is the next thing to check.
Ribbon and UI Board#
A display that flickers, freezes, or shows only part of its segments usually has a loose ribbon connector between the boards and the panel — re-seating it fixes many units with no part needed. If the panel lights fully but will not respond to your presses, the user-interface board or its touch membrane is the fault rather than the display itself, and replacing the UI board restores it. These are cheaper repairs than the main control board.
