The short answer
A portable JoyTutus fridge-freezer that runs but does not cool is usually starved of voltage rather than broken: a long lead, a tired socket or a low battery drops the supply, and these units then run without pulling down. Check in this order, and why
- Run it from a different supply and watch what changes — House socket against vehicle socket is the fastest test there is. First because it is the top-ranked cause above and costs nothing.
- Look at the room, the sun and what went in warm — Placement and load show up here before anything internal does. Second because its cause ranks second above.
- Find the condenser and feel whether it is hot and clean — Warm and clean is right; furred is the finding. Third because its cause ranks third above.
What an owner can safely check
- Run it from a house socket instead of the vehicle — If it cools on the mains adaptor, the fault is the supply, not the fridge.

Safety
Disconnect both supplies before opening anything, and treat the vehicle circuit with the same respect as a household one: a shorted lead in a car has no breaker between it and the battery. Never bypass a low-voltage cut-out to keep the unit running, and attempt nothing on the sealed system.
When to call a technician
Call once the seals, the coil, the clearance and the setting are proven good and it still will not hold temperature — that points inside, where owner checks end. Call immediately for oil at the compressor or tubing, or a smell of burning: oil outside the pipework means the system is open. Parts come from the seller, and the supply lead and the control panel are the items normally offered.
