The short answer
F2 is a hot-surface indication rather than a fault: it disappears once the surface cooking area has cooled. Nothing is broken and nothing needs resetting. The cooktop is telling you the glass is still hot enough to burn, which is information rather than an error. Work down the diagnostic order before anything comes apart; the ranking is the part of this page worth the most.
Error codes
Reference| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| F2 | "F2" will disappear when the surface cooking area has cooled. |
What you observe, and what to record
- The indication appears after cooking and fades on its own — Exactly the documented behaviour.
- Whether the code followed any recent work — An installation, a service visit, plumbing or electrical work: anything done near the appliance in the weeks before is worth mentioning.
- Whether anything else about the appliance changed first — A noise, a smell, a slower cycle or a poorer result in the weeks before the code usually dates the fault better than the code does.
Causes, most likely first on this cooktop
- Residual heat in the glass after cooking — First, because it is what the indication is for. On induction the glass is heated by the pan, and a heavy pan gives that heat back slowly.
- A hot pan or dish placed on the cooktop — Second, and the one that confuses people: a casserole out of the oven onto the glass raises the reading with no zone ever being used.
- Warm air rising from an oven below — Third: an under-mounted oven can keep the glass warm enough to hold the indication for a surprisingly long time.
Check in this order, and why
- Wait and watch it clear — The whole diagnosis for a normal indication, and it needs nothing but patience.
- Feel the glass carefully at the edge of the zone — Warmth confirms the indication is correct.
- Note whether anything hot has been set down — A dish out of the oven explains an indication nobody expected.
What an owner can safely check
- Leave the cooktop alone and let it cool — The indication clears itself. There is no reset and none is needed.
About 30 min
- Stop using the ${A} if anything smells hot or looks scorched — Discolouring at a connection or a plug is heat, and heat at a connection does not improve on its own.
About 5 min
- Take hot pans and dishes off the glass — The surface cools much faster once whatever is heating it is removed.
About 5 min
- Keep a short log of when the code appears — Date, what the cooktop was doing, and how long it had been running. Two entries make a pattern; one does not.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not pour water onto hot glass to cool it and do not work on a top that is still warm: thermal shock cracks a ceramic surface, and a cracked top takes the whole appliance out of service.
When to call a technician
Call only if the indication stays with the glass genuinely cold for hours, or if it never appears after hard cooking. The first is a sensor stuck high, the second is a warning that is no longer protecting anyone — and the second is the more important of the two even though it looks like nothing at all. If anything smells hot or looks scorched, switch the appliance off at the breaker and say so when you book.

What this page does not cover
This page reads F2 for Jenn-Air cooktops in general, from the manufacturer's shared code index. A code can be documented differently for one family, so where a model-line page exists for your unit it is the more specific answer and is linked below. Not here: wiring colours, connector positions and part numbers, which differ by family.
