The short answer
An oven that will not begin a cycle: on an IKEA microwave that is usually a door that is not latching, not a failed control board. If that is clean, a control lockout or demo mode is next. Most causes below are owner checks needing no tools and no panel off; the last is a service call.

- It beeps and refuses to run — An audible refusal rather than silence.
- It counts down without heating or turning — The timer runs but the cycle does not.

Causes, most likely first on this kind of unit
- The door is not latching — Interlock switches must all confirm the door before the oven will run. Ranked first: on an IKEA appliance on its mainstream OEM platform, the latch is the most-used moving part on this oven and the commonest reason it refuses to run.
- The control is locked out or waiting — A child lock, a demo mode, a clock that was never set, or a timer entered instead of a cook time all leave an oven that looks alive and does nothing. This rank, because a locked or waiting control refuses to start while the display stays lit.
- The keypad has failed — Membrane keypads fail one key at a time, and the start key is the most used of all. Ranked here because a dead start key with a live display is the keypad, not the board.
- The control board or the high-voltage section — A failed board or an open fuse inside the cabinet leaves an oven that ignores every reset. Bottom of the list, deliberately: it is last because it is the one cause that is never owner work.

- Unplug for a minute, then set the clock and a plain cycle — Clear child lock and demo mode, set the clock if it asks, then enter a cook time and press start.
- Only after door, control and outlet are proven — An oven with a live outlet that ignores every reset means a technician or a replacement.
