The short answer
On a Hotpoint dryer, heat that stopped all at once most often comes down to a tripped thermal cut-off or thermal fuse. What you observe
- The drum turns and the cycle runs, but the air is cool — Everything mechanical is working; only heat is missing.

- The cycle takes far longer than it used to — A gradual change of this kind is restriction building up, not a part failing.

Causes, most likely first on a Hotpoint dryer
- Tripped thermal cut-off or thermal fuse — Ranked first here: a one-shot safety part opens when airflow fails, and it does not reset itself.
