The short answer
A Haier washer left full of water is a blockage far more often than a failed pump, and most of the blockages sit in the filter you can open from the front. What you observe
- You hear the pump running but the level does not drop — A blockage downstream: filter, hose or standpipe.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the washer or switch off its breaker before opening the filter or any panel, and close both taps. Water behind the filter can still be hot after a hot wash, so let the machine stand first. Wear gloves when clearing the filter housing: broken glass, wire and pins collect there and you will be working by feel.
When to call a technician
Call once the filter is clear, the impeller turns freely, the hose is straight and the standpipe runs and it still will not drain, because what is left is the pump or its control. Call a plumber rather than an appliance technician if the standpipe backs up with the machine hose removed, since the fault is then in the house. Parts for this platform are stocked widely and a technician will usually carry the common ones, so a confirmed diagnosis and the repair often happen in the same visit.
