Clean spills at the time and check the anti-tip bracket
Wiping the top is not the same as dealing with a boil-over: the liquid that mattered has already gone below. Clean around and under the burners while everything is cool. And check the anti-tip bracket at the back is engaged, because a range that can tip forward when a loaded door is open is a hazard entirely separate from anything electrical.

- A burner or control that misbehaves after a boil-over — Residue where it should not be, and the timing gives it away.
