The short answer
These dryers can be installed in several orientations with the exhaust taken out in different directions, and the moist air has to actually leave the room. When a machine dries slowly and the laundry feels like a sauna afterwards, look first at where the exhaust is going — not at the drum, the element or the electronics.
What you observe
- The room is hot and humid after a cycle — Exhaust air is being returned to the room rather than leaving it.
- Loads take much longer than expected — Recycled moist air cannot pick up more moisture from the clothes.
- Condensation on the walls or window of the laundry — Every load puts real water into the room; it has to go somewhere.
- Performance changed after the machine was moved or wall-mounted — The venting configuration changed with it, and often not for the better.
- The machine stops early or trips protection — Restricted airflow raises temperature until the machine protects itself.
Causes, most likely first on this machine
- Exhaust configured or routed so the moist air stays indoors — First on a machine whose vent direction is selectable. A dryer left venting into a small closed laundry, or ducted to a point that discharges back inside, keeps rebreathing its own moisture — and no amount of servicing will fix a machine that is working correctly into the wrong place.
- Lint filter and duct restriction — Second. A filter cleaned less than every load, or a long run of flexible duct with sags and bends, cuts the airflow the machine depends on and raises drying times steadily over months.
- A wall or ceiling mount that has shifted — Third, and specific to the mountable models: a machine that has moved on its bracket can strain or crush the duct behind it, producing a restriction nobody can see.
- Overloading and programme choice — Last. A packed drum tumbles poorly and a heavy load on a light programme comes out damp, which gets reported as a fault when it is a usage question.
When to call a technician
Call when performance stays poor after the exhaust route is confirmed to discharge outside, the filter is cleaned every load and the duct is short, smooth and unobstructed. Call when the machine trips its thermal protection repeatedly, which is a restriction the owner checks have not found. Call an installer rather than a repairer when the machine is wall-mounted and has moved, or when the exhaust direction needs changing — that is an installation change, not a repair. Stop using the machine and call immediately if you smell burning or the cabinet becomes hot to the touch.

This page is family-agnostic: it covers vented dryers generally and carries no model-specific vent positions, duct sizes or mounting details, which come from the installation instructions for the machine you own.
