Most of the time on a Euhomy washer this comes down to one of two findings: the machine is not level or the feet are not locked, or a coin, underwire or button between the drum and the tub. Washer noise is diagnosed by the phase of the cycle it happens in — a spin noise, a wash noise and a drain noise come from three different parts of the machine.
Symptoms, and the ones that mean something else
- Banging and walking during the spin — A load that will not balance, or a machine that is not level and firmly footed.
- It moves across the floor, or the hose comes off the tap during a cycle — Portable and compact machines are not bolted to anything and are often connected to a kitchen tap rather than plumbed in.
- NEAR MISS — a loud clunk when the drum stops, once per cycle — That is usually a normal brake or drive event and worth watching before treating as a fault.
The ranking that matters

The order to work in
- First: Push the top corners diagonally — any rock at all means the feet need setting, and the locknuts need tightening afterwards. — It sits first because a light compact cabinet moves, tilts and gets pushed against a wall far more often than a built-in ever does.
- Second: Turn the drum slowly by hand with the machine off and listen for a loose object sliding. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: Open the door mid-cycle and look at how the load is sitting. — Only once the checks above are clean.

- Check the temporary connections a portable machine relies on — The tap adapter, the fill hose and the drain hose over the sink are the parts a portable washer adds to the fault list, and all three are checked in a couple of minutes.

Unplug the machine or switch off its breaker before opening the filter, turning the drum or removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never reach into a drum that is still turning, and never restrain a machine that is walking during a spin: stop the cycle and let it come to rest before touching it.
When to call a technician
Call a technician when the noise rises with spin speed and survives levelling and a balanced load — that is the bearing and suspension pattern, and it gets worse rather than better. Call promptly if you can hear a hard object between the drum and the tub, because leaving it there risks cutting the tub, and stop using the machine if it is walking far enough to strain its hoses.
