The first thing to rule out on a Euhomy dryer is the top cause below — the door switch is not making — and the second is a control lock, delay start or an unfinished cycle. A dryer that will not start is usually a door switch, a supply problem or a start circuit, and the sound the machine makes when the button is pressed separates those three immediately.
What you are looking at
- It starts and stops immediately when the button is released — A start switch or a motor relay that is not latching.
- Completely dead — no lights, no click, nothing — A supply fault, or on a 240-volt machine the loss of both legs.
- It dries far more slowly in a small closed room than it did in an open one — Compact dryers are often installed in a closet or a bathroom, and the room becomes part of the air path.
- NEAR MISS — it runs but never heats — That is the heating page, not this one.
The ranking that matters
- The door switch is not making — Ranked first on a Euhomy dryer because the doors are light, the gaskets are thin, and a single warm door is enough to change how the whole cabinet behaves. The switch has to prove the door is shut.
- A control lock, delay start or an unfinished cycle — Second here: these units are bought for a spare room, a garage or a camper and are routinely asked to work in an ambient the fitted-kitchen brands never see.
- A broken belt or a seized drum — With a broken belt the motor often runs freely and the drum does not move; with a seized drum the motor hums and stalls.
The order to work in
- First: Press the door firmly closed while pressing start, and listen for the small click the switch makes as the door closes. — It sits first because the doors are light, the gaskets are thin, and a single warm door is enough to change how the whole cabinet behaves.
- Second: Look for a lock indicator and cancel any programme fully before restarting. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: With the power off, turn the drum by hand: free and loose suggests a belt, immovable suggests a bearing or a foreign object. — Only once the checks above are clean.
What an owner can safely check
- Check the room the compact dryer is working in — A small unventilated space saturates quickly, and a compact machine has neither the airflow nor the heat to overcome that.
About 20 min
- Listen carefully as you press start — Silence, a click, or a hum — each names a different part of the machine, and the observation costs nothing.
About 5 min
- Check the breaker, including both halves of a double breaker — Reset once and note whether it holds.
About 10 min
- STOP before removing the cabinet to reach the motor, belt or fuse — That is live work in a cabinet with a heating element or a gas train.
The safety boundary
Safety
If you smell gas: do not switch anything on or off, leave the building, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not look for the leak yourself. Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
When this becomes a service call
Call a technician when the machine hums and will not turn, when the drum will not move by hand, or when it is dead with a proven live circuit. Call a gas technician for any starting complaint on a gas machine that comes with a smell of gas, and evacuate before making that call.

Scope of this page
This page is generalized across the Euhomy dryer range — written for the appliance class, not for one family or model line, and no family- or model-specific page has been published beneath it yet. When one is, it will be the more specific answer and it will be linked here; until then the closest pages are listed below.
