The short answer
On a condenser or heat-pump Ellipse dryer, the water taken out of the load has to go somewhere: into a tank you empty, or out through a drain hose if the machine has been plumbed in. - Switch off at the socket, pull the condensate tank out, empty it and check its float moves freely.
- Refit the tank, pushing it fully home until it seats.
- Open the lower access panel, remove the secondary filter, rinse it and clear the exchanger fins.

Water and a mains appliance in the same cabinet is the hazard. Isolate before opening any panel, and let the machine cool first. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
