The short answer
Start with the drain filter, then look at the site plumbing rather than the machine. A commercial washer that drains when the laundry is quiet and fails when it is busy has a shared-drain capacity problem, and that is a plumbing call, not an appliance one.
What you observe
- Water standing in the drum at cycle end — The basic presentation; everything else refines it.
- The pump runs but the level barely falls — A restriction rather than a dead pump.
- The pump is silent when it should be draining — Points at the pump, its supply or the control.
- Drains fine alone, backs up when other machines run — Site plumbing capacity, not the washer.
- Water returns to the drum after draining — A siphon problem from a standpipe or hose height issue.
- Not this fault: it drains but never spins — That belongs on the cycle page.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Expect several litres when the filter cover comes off, and do not stand in the water while working. These machines are heavy; use proper equipment to move one rather than levering it away from the wall.
When to call
Call an appliance technician when the filter is clean, the hose is clear and the pump is silent or straining. Call a plumber instead when the fault tracks the laundry’s busy periods, or when the standpipe backs up with the machine disconnected. On a commercial site it is worth having that distinction made early, because the two trades bill differently and only one of them can fix a shared drain.
