The short answer
Water inside a Duura Elite refrigerator, or on the floor in front of it, is nearly always defrost water that cannot reach its drain rather than a burst supply line. The first two causes below are owner work; only a cracked drain pan or a split line needs a visit.
What you are seeing and hearing
- Water at the back only, near the wall — That points at the supply line and its fittings instead.
- The spelling on the unit does not match the spelling on the paperwork — The same platform is sold under more than one spelling of this name.
- NEAR MISS: the cabinet is also warm — A leak plus warmth is usually a cooling fault first, and the cooling page covers it.
The causes, most likely first on this brand
- A blocked defrost drain — Every frost-free refrigerator melts its own frost and runs the water to a tray underneath. Ranked first on a Duura Elite refrigerator: water that cannot get away produces symptoms all over the appliance, which is why the path is settled early.
- Humid air getting in past a tired door seal — Warm room air carries moisture that condenses the moment it reaches a cold surface, so a poor seal delivers water to the inside of the cabinet continuously. Ranked second on a Duura Elite refrigerator: the seal is a generic extrusion and it hardens early, which is why it ranks here.
- The water supply line or one of its fittings — The line that feeds the ice-maker and the dispenser is the one part of the unit under constant pressure. Ranked third on a Duura Elite refrigerator: nothing downstream can work until water actually arrives, so the supply is proved first.
- Food packed against the back wall, or spills reaching the trough — Packages pressed against the rear wall stop water reaching the drain trough, and a spill that dries in the trough does the same thing. Ranked fourth on a Duura Elite refrigerator: a unit bought on price is usually working harder than it was built for, so loading and habit rank above hardware.
The order to work in, and the reason for it
- Look for ice or standing water at the low point of the freezer floor — Water under the crispers with a dry supply line behind is this cause.
- Close the door on a sheet of paper at several points and see where it pulls out freely — Condensation with no pooled water at the drain points here.
- Pull the unit out and look at the line and every fitting with a torch — Water at the back with a dry cabinet is a supply fault, not a drain fault.
Owner checks, in order
- Empty the unit, switch it off and let it stand with the doors open until the drain runs clear — Do not push anything metal into the drain hole: the tubing behind it is soft.
Tools: towels, warm waterAbout 90 min
- Clean the gasket and its channel, then check the door sits square in the frame — A door that has dropped seals at the top and gaps at the bottom.
Tools: warm soapy water, clothAbout 20 min
- STOP HERE if the next step needs a meter on live terminals or a panel off — That is where an owner check ends and a service call begins.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the unit or switch off its breaker before removing any panel: a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Refrigerant work is licensed work, so never cut, bend or solder the tubing, and never run the unit with the sealed system open. A loaded refrigerator is heavy and top-sided, so get help to move it rather than walking it on a corner.
When this becomes a service call
Call when the drain is clear, the unit is level and the seal is good, and water still appears: what is left is the drain tube behind the liner, the pan, or the defrost control. Call immediately if the water is at the back near the supply line and you cannot see which fitting is wet, because a pressurised line behind a refrigerator can empty into a floor for a long time before anyone notices.

What this page does not cover
This page is written for the Duura Elite refrigerator as a class, not for one family or model line. Shelf layouts, defrost-control types, fan placement and part numbers all change from build to build and are deliberately not here. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit, it is the more specific answer and the one to read first.
